Mawe Lodges

Traveling with Family to Tanzania

Traveling with family to Tanzania is not so easy when it comes to choosing the right places, activities, and experiences that cater to everyone else’s needs.

Mawe Lodges is a perfect choice for your next family trip, whether traveling as a part of all adults or with young children.

Our family suites are an excellent selection for families who wish to stay together while on a trip to Tanzania. Typically, our family rooms have two bathrooms, two bedrooms configured with a double plus a single bed, and another bedroom with two twin beds that, in total, accommodate a group of six family members traveling together.

A range of activities at our properties includes kids’ games, safari-learning kits, a bookshelf with various travel and nontravel books to read, board games, and other outdoor activities such as short walks around the camps or lodge, biking or hiking through the highlands of Rift Valley.

Embrace Cultural Immersion

Tanzania is home to a mosaic of ethnic groups, each with its traditions, languages, and ways of life. Families can introduce their children to a world beyond their own by engaging with local communities, fostering empathy and understanding from a young age. Sharing stories, participating in traditional dances, and learning about daily routines can help children appreciate the diversity within the country.

Visit Local Markets

Local markets are vibrant hubs of activity that showcase the essence of Tanzanian culture. Taking your family to these markets offers a sensory feast as you navigate through stalls of colorful produce, handcrafted goods, and unique treasures. Please encourage your children to interact with local vendors, teach them about bartering, respecting local customs, and appreciate crafting these items’ hard work.

Participate in Community Projects

Many local communities in Tanzania are involved in various sustainable development projects. Joining hands with these initiatives benefits the local people and provides families with a chance to contribute to the well-being of others actively. Whether participating in a tree-planting project or assisting in building a school, these experiences leave a lasting impact on both adults and children.

Arts and Crafts Workshops

Tanzania’s artistic heritage is rich and diverse, from intricate beadwork to vibrant fabrics. Engage your family in arts and crafts workshops led by local artisans. Children can learn the art of beadwork, drumming, or traditional painting, enabling them to appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that goes into creating these works of art.

Our team is well trained to accommodate young travelers by providing the utmost services that make the young ones not bored of long days on safari while visiting our properties.
