Seronera Airstrip is the arrival point in Mawe Tented Camp’s published flight information. It gives access to the central Serengeti, followed by a vehicle transfer to the camp in the central-eastern area around Soit Le Motonyi.
The camp publishes a transfer estimate of 30 to 45 minutes. Wildlife stops, the track and conditions can change that journey. Arrange the pickup before flying, even if you have already reserved a tent.
Where Seronera Airstrip takes you
Seronera Airstrip is within Serengeti National Park. Air Excel’s destination information identifies it as a Serengeti arrival point and publishes flight services for the route.
The airstrip and the wider Seronera wildlife area are not the same subject. For wildlife background, the existing Seronera Valley article has that information. For arrival planning, the important facts are the named airstrip, your camp and the transfer between them.
Serengeti has more than one airstrip. A ticket to the park does not automatically put you near every camp. The Serengeti destination guide explains the regions, while your booking confirmation needs to identify the correct landing point.
Flights to Seronera Airstrip
Air Excel publishes Arusha-to-Seronera services. Its timetable also shows that different services can have different timings and routing. Check the actual travel date and booked service rather than relying on one advertised flight duration.
A scheduled flight may stop elsewhere before reaching Seronera. A private charter has a different arrangement and price. The safari proposal should say which type of flight you are booking and name the operator.
Mawe arranges flights and ground transfers; it does not operate Seronera Airstrip or claim to operate the aircraft. The airline ticket and camp booking are connected parts of the itinerary, with different operating responsibilities.
Seronera Airstrip to Mawe Tented Camp
Mawe Tented Camp is in the Soit Le Motonyi area of the central-eastern Serengeti. The property page estimates 30 to 45 minutes from Seronera, with the journey forming part of your arrival in the wildlife area.
Confirm whether the transfer charge is in your room or safari quote. Camp-only full board does not automatically establish the pickup arrangement. The proposal should include the outward transfer as well as the return to the airstrip.
Share the airline, flight reference, date and passenger names with the team. If the operator changes the arrival time, pass that information to Mawe so the pickup can change too. Keep the reservations contact available during the travel day.

Baggage and meeting your driver
Use the baggage policy for the airline on your ticket. Check whether the total includes hand luggage and cameras, and whether the operator has particular bag requirements. A rule used on an earlier safari may not apply to this service.
Tell the reservations team before ticketing if you have bulky camera equipment or need boarding assistance. A camp pickup does not settle aircraft limitations. The packing list helps with the wider safari bag, while the airline sets the flight allowance.
Agree how to identify the driver and what contact to use if you cannot find the pickup. The arrangement should be specific enough that you do not need to accept an unplanned transfer from another vehicle.
| Before departure | Detail to have confirmed |
|---|---|
| Flight | Airline, date and named arrival airstrip |
| Pickup | Driver identification and a working contact |
| Destination | Mawe Tented Camp and the booked room dates |
| Charges | Transfer and applicable park charges in the quote |
| Return | Airstrip transfer and onward flight details |
What to check before your return flight
Confirm the return pickup with the camp rather than treating the arrival estimate as a departure timetable. The guide and team need to allow for the booked check-in and road conditions.
If your next flight is international, check the arrival airport of the domestic service. Arusha Airport and Kilimanjaro International Airport are separate places. Any road transfer between them needs its own time and booking.
Our 10-day itinerary shows how an airstrip departure can fit a longer safari. Your own trip planning should still use the actual flight and final camp in your proposal.
For comparing accommodation regions, use the Serengeti camps guide. For the total service budget, the safari cost guide separates room rates from other trip components.
Seronera arrival questions
Is Seronera Airport the same as Seronera Airstrip?
Travelers may use both descriptions. Check the actual ticket and the camp confirmation rather than relying on a broad airport label. The landing point must agree with the pickup and the camp you intend to reach.
Is Seronera the right choice for northern Serengeti?
It is the published arrival point for Mawe Tented Camp’s central-eastern location. A northern stay needs its own plan, often involving Kogatende. Landing at Seronera does not remove the road journey between those regions.
Does a flight fare include my camp transfer?
Only if that service forms part of the booking you accept. The ticket alone should not be treated as a camp pickup confirmation. Your proposal needs to identify the arrival transfer, return transfer and applicable charges.
Is Mawe Tented Camp open year-round?
The camp publishes year-round operation. A particular room still needs availability for your dates. Its published Seronera transfer estimate is 30 to 45 minutes, subject to conditions and stops.
