The airstrip’s flight availability and a seasonal camp’s opening period are different facts. An available flight does not establish that a tent is open or reserved for you.
Where Kogatende Airstrip is
Kogatende Airstrip gives access to the northern Serengeti in Tanzania. It is the area used for Mawe’s Gnu Mara River Camp stays, near the Tanzanian Mara River country. It is not an international airport in Kenya.

A camp described as being in Serengeti can be in a different region with another flight connection. Confirm the full property name rather than booking from the park name alone.
Flights to Kogatende Airstrip
Air Excel publishes services to Kogatende, including services from Arusha. The actual departure, stops and arrival time need confirmation for your travel date.
Some services may include other airstrip stops. Do not assume a flight duration quoted for a direct service applies to every scheduled route. Your ticket and joining information should identify the actual service.
Mawe can arrange flight-based safaris and ground transfers. The named airline operates the flight. Mawe does not claim to own Kogatende Airstrip or fly its own passenger aircraft.
If you are connecting from an international arrival, ask the reservations team to check the whole sequence. The arrival airport, road connection and domestic check-in can affect whether a same-day onward flight is practical.
Transfer to Gnu Mara River Camp
Gnu Mara River Camp is Mawe’s seasonal northern Serengeti camp. Arrange its airstrip pickup in advance and ask the team for the current transfer estimate for your dates.
Keep the airstrip-to-camp journey separate from the camp-to-river journey. The camp’s published 40-to-45-minute estimate for reaching crossing points does not establish the pickup duration from the airstrip. They are different journeys and may use different tracks.
The proposal should state whether both arrival and departure transfers are included. A full-board room rate alone does not answer that question. Your vehicle and game-drive arrangements after arrival also need confirmation.
Send Mawe the airline name, flight reference, date and passenger names. If the operator changes the service, send the updated details so the driver and camp have the same arrival plan.
Match flights to the camp’s opening dates
The camp’s published window is 1 June to 15 November. Both nights and transfers need to fit the actual confirmed stay. An airstrip service after the camp closes does not make that accommodation available.

Baggage, arrival changes and departure day
Read the rules of the operator on your ticket, including hand luggage and cameras. Extra equipment and mobility assistance need a discussion before the flight booking. The packing list complements that check rather than replacing airline instructions.

Keep a working reservations contact available. A changed departure airport or arrival time needs to reach the ground team before the pickup. Do not rely on the original confirmation if the airline has supplied new information.
For departure, the camp should confirm the pickup around the actual check-in requirement. Leave room for a changed flight or slower transfer, particularly before an international connection. Arusha Airport and Kilimanjaro International Airport are different points in the plan.

Kogatende flight questions
Does the airstrip opening match the camp season?
Not necessarily. Flight operations and the availability of Gnu Mara River Camp are separate arrangements. The camp publishes 1 June to 15 November, and your booking needs to fit its confirmed dates as well as the flight schedule.
Does flying here guarantee river crossings?
No. Kogatende gives access to the northern region, while wildlife movement decides whether a crossing occurs during your visit. No flight or camp booking can guarantee a particular animal event.
Can I fly to Seronera instead?
That changes the ground journey. Seronera supports the central region and is not interchangeable with Kogatende for a northern stay. The team needs to review the route, transfer time and cost before you choose another arrival point.
Does Mawe operate the airstrip?
Mawe arranges safari stays and transfers, while the relevant operator carries out the flight. The confirmed proposal defines the ground services. Gnu Mara River Camp’s published operating period is 1 June to 15 November.
